Originally commissioned for the V&A Shakespeare Festival, Live Canon and are now delighted to bring this event to Wilderness 2014. To find out where they might be lurking, keep an eye on @livecanon and let us know if you find them…
It’s Shakespeare’s 450th anniversary. Let the birthday celebrations begin! Look out for Live Canon’s actors throughout the festival. They’ll be popping up, performing all 154 sonnets… from memory.
Shakespeare’s not around to open his presents, so we have them to share with you. Each has a number on. Open the present, and one of the actors will perform that sonnet. How many can you find?
Live Canon are an ensemble of actors, founded in 2008, who perform poetry at theatres, festivals and events throughout the UK. These are not readings; Live Canon perform from memory with wit, passion and dedication – bringing the back canon, and contemporary poetry to life. Live Canon create digital and physical poetry installations, record poetry for podcasts and the radio… and bring poetry to unusual places and spaces. They’ve recently popped up at the V&A, the Globe, Oxford Playhouse, The Stephen Joseph Theatre, the British Academy… They also make work for children, and have recently launched the Live Canon Poetry Press.
