Clare Finney is a food journalist and the author of The Female Chef: a collection of stories and recipes from 30 women redefining the food scene in Britain. Her initiation into the world of female cheffing came via her grandmother’s hotel kitchen – though her grandmother still prefers ‘cook’ to ‘chef’. Today Clare writes about hospitality, sustainability, trends and the feelings food inspires for a range of national newspapers and magazines, including the Guardian, Telegraph, Evening Standard, BBC Good Food, delicious and Waitrose magazine. In 2019 she was named food writer of the year at Fortnum and Mason’s food and drink awards, and in 2022 the same awards declared The Female Chef the best debut book of the year. Next year sees the publication of her next book, which is about food and love and called – naturally – Hungry Heart.
