Formerly chef-director of Petersham Nurseries, Damian Clisby opened Emile in Shoreditch, in partnership with Nick Gibson of The Drapers Arms, in 2019. The restaurant was enthusiastically received by customers and critics alike, with the Evening Standard‘s Fay Maschler naming it one of her favourite restaurants of the year.
Damian’s cooking style puts the quality of the ingredients centre-stage; he likes to cook with minimal ‘faff and fuss’ creating elegant, approachable dishes using seasonal produce from favourite suppliers with whom he has built close relationships over the years. In 2020 Damian and Nick will be working on new projects together, bringing Damian’s food to new audiences, complemented by Nick’s passionately and expertly composed wine-list.
