Franc Moody

A Franc Moody gig is a life-affirming experience. As a band who came up via the tight-knit warehouse rave scene of London, their performances are all about community and chaos. These hypnotic and free-form shows–member shave been known to suddenly swap instruments or play keytar solos while sat on each other’s shoulders–have helped them build a cult following. Each gig feels like a gigantic house party, packed with scenes of crowd surfing, mosh pits, mass sing-alongs and chants of “MOODY! MOODY!” This is where the band feel most at home and it informs one of the many themes running through their forthcoming debut album, Dream in Colour: the experience of letting loose together. Dream in Colour is set for release on 28thFebruary 2020.

Franc Moody’s sound is contemporary funk, awash with electronic inspiration, human touches, and throbbing grooves. Like Daft Punk and Jamiroquai before them, they draw from the sounds, styles and techniques of funk, disco and soul while simultaneously threading in electronic influences of the here and now. And over their short lifespan as a band they’ve shown a masterful knack for creating rich and textured bangers, like “Dopamine” and “Dance Moves” which have amassed more than 20 million streams. They’ve book-ended this with a meteoric rise of sell out shows: from 120 capacity Bermondsey Social to the 1,100 cap Heaven, via Europe and Glastonbury. Their debut US dates in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York this December sold out in a matter of hours. And next February they will play their largest show to date at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire, to celebrate the release of the album.
