Letters Live came to Wilderness last year for the very first time. Anyone who witnessed the spectacle can attest that it went down in history as one of finest hours of entertainment to have occurred.
With a top secret, unannounced line-up that has become their calling card, a sterling cast of readers graced the Atrium, reading some of the greatest correspondence ever to have been written. They read letters from Iggy Pop, Lewis Carroll and Hunter S. Thompson.
And they are returning to do it all over again.
As headliners of the festival’s Talks and Debates programme, Letters Live will bring their top secret cast of readers and letters designed to surprise and delight. You really are in for a treat. You can watch our Behind The Scenes video here.
Letters Live has been wowing audiences since its low-key inception in 2013, and to this day its mission has remained the same: to harness the unrivalled power of old-fashioned correspondence and breathe new life into the stories contained within letters with the help of an ever-changing cast of some of the most acclaimed performing talent from around the world.
Past Letters Live performers have included such luminaries as Benedict Cumberbatch, Olivia Colman, Jude Law, Juliet Stevenson, Russell Brand, Kylie Minogue, Gillian Anderson, Nick Cave, Thandie Newton, Riz Ahmed, Oscar Isaac and Jarvis Cocker.
Letters Live is inspired by Shaun Usher’s best-selling Letters of Note, and by Simon Garfield’s To the Letter.
Expect absolute greatness.
No need to pre-book, just turn up on the day.
