Linzi Symons and Darren Skene are our Femmme Fraiche resident duo of fraicheness, responsible for the tongue-in-cheek, trash-tastic, guilty-pleasures and kitsch pop-trash, usually played in the bar, while the house and techno pumpers are bumping away in the basement.
Our first princess of pop, Linzi Symons started out her DJ life on the queer scene in Brighton and the surrounding South Coast. A regular at Candy Bar, Get So me and Darren’s (our other pop-kween) ‘Nervous Twitch’ she was soon a go-to DJ for your electro-clash and trash-pop needs. Now based in London, by day she works as Radio One’s social media guru, regularly rubbing shoulders with the popstars she so elegantly throws down at Fèmmme Fraîche, so she has her hands firmly on the pulse, of the latest cool cats of music which makes her a fine Fèmmme Fraîche selecta.
Fashion photographer by day, DJ by night, Darren Skene first cut his teeth behind the decks while running queer alternative student nights ‘Shibby Shabblers’ and ‘Nervous Twitch’ in Brighton. He was also a resident at Brighton’s legendary Candy Bar and the infamous GhettoandPopstarz. No stranger to a queer girl crowd, a regular honorary lesbian, he’s now a firm fave at Fèmmme Fraîche as our kween of Pop & Trash. When not throwing down our favourite guilty pleasures, Darren is a sought after fashion and editorial photographer, recently also turning his hand at fashion videos.
