Yassmin Abdel Magied
Discusses how she got published and the experience of having your writings brought into the hands of readers. Writer, broadcaster and award-winning social advocate, she is the author of Yassmin’s Story, You Must Be Layla and features in It’s Not About the Burqa, an anthology of essays by Muslim Women on Faith, Feminism, Sexuality and Race.
A campaigner for increasing diversity and representation in books. She co-founded The Good Literary Agency and The Good Journal as well as running her own agency. Prior to this she was CEO of World Book Night and before head of marketing at Foyles.
A journalist for seven years, writing for Fabulous, The Financial Times’s How To Spend It, and Vogue.co.uk. She covers everything from careers, to relationships, current affairs, celebrity and travel, and was shortlisted for the PPA Writer of the Year Award in 2018.
