Chef Yossi “Papi” Elad has two passions in life; food and people. Having been in the restaurant business since 1980, Papi has been able to incorporate both of these into his work. Although Papi officially retired last year, we are honoured to have him returning to lead our international Saturday Banquets.
With almost forty years’ experience of working in kitchens specialising in Israeli cuisine, there are few people who know more about food from this part of the world than Papi. After opening Jerusalem’s famous Machneyuda in 2009, Papi relocated to London in 2014 to help open The Palomar, and spent the following two years sharing his vast knowledge with the kitchen team as well as hosting the restaurant. A year after opening, in 2015, The Palomar was named Observer Food Monthly’s Restaurant of the Year, GQ and Tatler Restaurant of the year.
