Discovering our Family Stories
Set time to be announced
with Janeen Hyat
Children and young people will uncover what's fascinating about their families, and learn more about the journeys our families have in common. We may live in a world of deepening division, but we're all more connected than we think.
Janeen grew up in Florida and now lives in London with her partner and three chaotic, incredible children. She's half-Pakistani, half-New Yorker, a lapsed Muslim and Catholic. She spent the first six years of her career as a lawyer, then retrained as a secondary school English teacher. Alongside writing, Janeen still works for education charities to advocate for a more equitable system. She's passionate about creating characters that are many things at once -- because she knows she's not alone in being a tangled mass of identities, always changing. She is the author of Evie and Maryam’s Family Tree, winner of the Waterstones Childrens Book Prize for Younger Readers, and of Evie and Maryam's Little Lies, out this August.
