ATALYA + ATIKÉ
As co-founder of Me Gusta Collective and Green Island Festival, Atiké has been a driving force in championing forward-thinking artists such as Badsista, Egyptian Lover and Habibi Funk. Born in Vienna and raised in Ireland, with roots in Ecuador and Togo, his sound reflects a life shaped by movement and cultural exchange—blending classical and jazz influences with Afrobeat, Latin rhythms, Baile funk, Miami bass, Electro, Bruk and contemporary club music.
Atalaya blends together a world repertoire of sounds, with a penchant for queer dance music, electronic folk and experimental Latin rhythms. Their club sets offer a space for dance euphoria, pulsing bass and queer bodies to come together freely. Their sound is mainly influenced by the musical richness of their upbringing in the north west regions of spain and the uk, reminiscing a decade lived as an urban dancer, voguer and club lover.
Atalaya is the main producer and resident of nympha - an underground queer club night based at Soup, Manchester - together with Me Gusta’s Atiké. nympha platforms internationally established artists of the Abya Yala diaspora, alongside a diverse range of up and coming artists based in the uk. nympha platforms fem, trans, queer and working class DJs.
atalaya also co-ran Nothing To Celebrate, a queer celebration of indigenous cultures of Abya Yala, which took place at The DBA in October 2024, with a zine-making workshop and day-to-night celebration of people, food, music, culture and togetherness.
They host bimonthly residency - club atalaya - on CROP radio and Soup bar. In their online shows and all-night bar shindigs, atalaya invites a growing number of upcoming djs that bring a global range of sounds to the decks.
Atalaya’s previous residency at Steam Radio saw them host a monthly named traketeo - Steam’s dose of Perreo pa’ las nenas. In this show, they platformed fem, trans and queer artists making and mixing reggaetón and latin club - as well as a variety of upcoming and established sounds in the Abya Yala diaspora and at a global scale.
