Mica Millar
Set time to be announced
Mica Millar is a British soul singer, songwriter, producer and fiercely independent creative force whose music brings a contemporary, female perspective to the timeless genres of soul, RnB, blues, gospel and jazz. Since the release of her acclaimed debut album Heaven Knows in 2022, Millar has become one of the United Kingdom’s most compelling contemporary soul voices. Her long awaited second album, A Little Bit of Me, marks her most intimate and revealing work to date, shaped by self discovery, spiritual inquiry and the emotional realities that have defined the past six years of her life.
Mica’s journey has always been one of determination, creativity and an unrelenting passion for music. As a self managed artist and the founder of her own independent label Golden Hour Music, she has defied industry norms and achieved international recognition entirely on her own terms. Her debut album Heaven Knows was self written and self produced. It was mastered at Abbey Road Studios and stands as a testament to her uncompromising artistic vision. Exploring themes of human nature, spirituality, love, oppression, inequality and empowerment, the record drew from a rich palette of classic soul, blues, gospel and jazz while establishing Millar as a singular new presence in British soul.
The journey toward that debut album was anything but straightforward. In the midst of this process she suffered a life changing injury, breaking her back in 2020 and facing nine months in a back brace followed by ongoing rehabilitation. As the pandemic struck, Millar was forced to pivot to remote collaborations, which expanded her creative circle to include musicians she had long admired, including Prince alumni Ricky Peterson and David Z.
Mixed by multi platinum engineer Brian Malouf, known for his work with Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder, Heaven Knows received widespread acclaim. Jazz FM named it Album of the Week. She won the Jazz FM Award for Soul Act of the Year and was inducted into the Recording Academy in 2023. Support slots and festival appearances with artists including Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie and Gregory Porter followed, as Millar made her mark across Europe, as well as the UK.
After two years of writing, recording, touring and managing the entire operation herself, Millar realised she was in need of a fresh outlook. She travelled alone across the south of France, seeking clarity, and reconnected with parts of herself that had been submerged beneath ambition.
A Little Bit of Me was born from this. The self written, self produced record was brought to life at Miraval Studios in the south of France. Surrounded by stillness and sunlight, Millar worked closely with a team of global talent. The environment mirrored the album’s inward gaze and allowed the music to unfold with intention.
Across the album she examines emotional duality, the tension between aspiration and self preservation, desire and truth, longing and clarity from a deeply personal, female perspective. With A Little Bit of Me, Mica Millar steps into a new chapter defined by truth, presence and emotional clarity, affirming her place as one of the most exciting voices in British soul.
