YNG CPTN

YNG CPTN-Young Captain-is a Wolverhampton-raised, London-based DJ and cultural curator with deep roots in reggae, dancehall, soul, and sound-system culture. Raised around radio and selector tradition through his father, Big Bad Captain of Skyline Radio, music was never background. It was lineage, energy, a way of bringing people together. That grounding still shapes how he plays today: led by feeling, flow, and connection to the room.

A decade of selection has taken him across the UK and internationally-Royal Albert Hall, Somerset House, Glastonbury, SXSW, Reggae Geel. He has built long-standing relationships with cultural houses and brands including Soho House, Harrods, BAFTA, Möet & Chandon, UNIQLO, Puma, and Wray & Nephew.

In 2023 he founded YNG CPTN SOUND - a music-led cultural platform creating intentional events, curated sessions, and community gatherings drawn from sound-system heritage. Depth over hype. Considered over disposable.

Festival stage or small room, brand activation or ceremonial set, the focus stays the same: moments that feel grounded, soulful, memorable. Audiences shouldn't just hear the music. They should feel it.
