CARVE, INK + PRINT IT: MAKE YOUR OWN BOTANICAL STAMP

A fun, social sesh to ease you nicely into the festival – carve a simple shape inspired by something botanical, ink it up, and see your design appear in print, and use your newly created stamp to print your new design again and again… And again!

In this workshop, you’ll create your own stamp using soft carving materials, shaping a design inspired by patterns, textures or forms found in nature: leaves, symbols, repeating marks, abstract shapes. The simpler, the better.

Once carved, you’ll experiment with ink and printing onto paper or fabric (bring your own notebook, tote bag or tee to print onto, if you like!), testing different placements, layering colours, and building repeat patterns as you go.

There’s a super satisfying trial-and-error rhythm to this session – carve, print, adjust, repeat.

You don’t need any drawing or printmaking experience – or a polished idea – before you get going. The process is really approachable, delightfully (slightly) messy and easy to get totally absorbed in, and you’ll have guidance on hand throughout if you want or need it.

You’ll walk away with your carved stamp to keep, along with printed pieces you can take home or decorate your camp – or yourself – with… And a technique that’s easy to continue experimenting with long after the festival.
