Natural Ink Alchemy: Foraged Colour + Printmaking

Will is a Bristol-based illustrator, printmaker, and natural ink-maker exploring creative practice through foraged materials. He co-runs Bark Ink Collective and leads workshops across the UK.

Join us for an hour exploring the centuries-old practice of natural Ink-making, and discover the fascinating creative alchemy that surrounds it.

Using a range of natural inks created using foraged materials, we’ll experiment shifting colours by utilising their natural PH sensitivities. Throughout the session we’ll combine guided play with the freedom to experiment as you will, with moments of guided play and 1-1 outcomes as well as self-guided exploration and learning from one another.

Within the session you’ll experience a range of mediums and outcomes; you’ll have the opportunity to explore the inks through a series of activity sheets, and a mount will be provided for you to package your mini masterpiece. You’ll also try your hand at silk screen printing using foraged ink, and have a go at other activities alongside.

At the end of the session you’ll have produced a range of outcomes to take home with you as reminders of your weekend at Wilderness.

This workshop introduces and unlocks this wonderful practice in a very tactile and gentle way, unlocking the potential in creative tools found in the natural materials that surround us.
