FESTIVAL PAGES: START YOUR OWN JUNK JOURNAL

Back

from £15

Maker's Market

Work with paper scraps, stickers and found materials from across your festival weekend to build layered journal pages that hold your weekend memories. Make sure you save things like tickets (e.g. festival, train and bus tickets); flyers, handwritten notes, doodles, drawings, menus, Polaroid pics, etc. – this is exactly the ephemera you’ll fill your festival junk journal with.

You’ll start with a fresh notebook, then begin filling it – cutting, sticking, layering, and combining textures to create pages that feel personal rather than polished. All the kinds of things that usually get thrown away become the raw material.

You’ll be guided through simple techniques for building backgrounds, adding depth, and creating movement across the page, but there’s plenty of space to follow your own instinct. Some pages might be busy and colourful, others more minimal – it’s about finding what feels right.

Bring along anything you’ve collected during the festival if you like, or dive into the shared materials provided. By the end, you’ll have a set of finished pages and the start of a journal you’ll keep adding to long after the weekend.

If you’re feeling extra creative, you can combine this workshop with the ‘MAKE A MINI FESTIVAL JOURNAL: BEGINNERS’ BOOK BINDING’ session by facilitator Edie Bound (2-3pm on Sat 01 Aug), and bring the mini journal you create there – along with any scraps or found objects you collect across the weekend – to fill during this workshop! This session also pairs well with Edie Bound’s ‘CARVE, INK + PRINT IT: MAKE YOUR OWN STAMP session on Thu 30 Jul (4-4:45pm), where you can create stamps to decorate your junk journal with!
