Persephone: Queen of the Underworld

You’ve done the breathwork, the yoga, the somatic processing. You’ve gone inward, again and again, and still something deeper is calling. This is for those that hear that call.

Persephone is the Queen of the Underworld from the Ancient Greek tradition. Each year, she descends from the sunlit meadows of the upper world into the rich dark below, to return to her King, Hades. It is her descent that brings autumn. Her ascent that brings spring. She is the Goddess who knows both worlds, who moves between light and dark, above and below, life and death. And as we meet in the height of Summer, Persephone is preparing to return to her dominion in the world beneath.

In this 90-minute Embodied Myth practice, you will move with Persephone. Not as a character from an ancient myth. Not as an idea, a theory, or even an image. You will meet her as a tangible, powerful and sacred deity who has wisdom to impart, and you will meet her through the terrain of your own body.

We begin in the blood. Dropping into the circulatory system, following the inner river of the body, we let movement arise from the inside out.

Rooted in Embodied Flow and Body Mind Centering, this is somatic practice animated by mythic magic. A way of turning back towards the Gods whilst deeply embodying their divinity.

From there, through guided visualisation and somatic storytelling, you will follow Persephone's longing. Descending from the sunlit meadow into the rich dark of soul, into the arms of her beloved Hades, we move through one of the great stories of the feminine at the cusp of autumn.

What happens when myth comes alive through your own body? When the ancient ways are not studied but remembered, not performed but relived?

Come and find out.

Devotional, playful, and as juicy as a ripening pomegranate.
