The Mindful Space

with Chay

Join Chay for a sonic journey exploring a range of both live traditional sound therapy instruments woven with amplified ambient and soundscape music in order to create a unique journey that promotes relaxation, lowered cortisol, changes in brainwave states, slowed regulated breathing, emotional release and better sleep!

Our body is made of 70% water. Every cell sits in a fluid matrix. When sound enters the body, it travels as tiny pressure waves and gently moves your cells and tissues. Because water is one of the best mediums for vibration to travel, tones reach deep tissues, not just your skin or ears. Think of the session as micro massage with sound! There are many benefits being discovered in science with the power of sound.

Simply put, it can calm the nervous system, lower heart rate, blood pressure and cortisol levels; relaxing the body and even offer mild pain relief.

Group sessions like this evening where we come together as a form of communion also boost Oxytocin levels as we all transcend on this journey together.

This session itself is a hybrid of traditional sound baths and amplified ambient music. The session starts with an introduction, a brief guided meditation followed by a 50 minute listening journey through sounds with a few grounding tracks and instruments at the end to bring you back into the space.

The listening journey is a narrative, using soft droning rhythms designed to help you arrive into the space of the mix- as it develops the music deepens with some dissonant overtones to help shift energy and emotion before returning to softer grounding music.

During the mix complimentary sound instruments are played (drone flute/drum/bowls/chimes/rattles) to add spaciousness and dynamic layers to the listening experience.

Bring warm clothes if there's a cool breeze in the air, a blanket and a pillow if possible, lie down, pop on an eye mask, get under a blanket- diminish the senses - and let the frequencies wash over you as you ground, restore and nourish the soul. Mats and eye masks are provided.

For safety, this session is not suitable for anyone with a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, or for pregnant people. If you have epilepsy, recent surgery, serious heart conditions, or are currently under psychiatric care, please check with your healthcare provider before joining.
